VOA’s health correspondent Linord Moudou gives an update on the Democratic Republic of Congo Ebola crisis. The World Health Organization reports no new cases of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Port City of Mbandaka and remote town of Bikoro have been confirmed since May 17th. The WHO says the last confirmed case was reported on May 30th in Itipo, a village in the area of Iboko. The total of confirmed cases of Ebola now stands at 37, including 25 deaths. DRC's health ministry says medical workers have given all the immediate contacts of Ebola patients in the city of Mbandaka an experimental vaccine. The VSV-EBOV vaccine, developed by Merck, has been administered to over a thousand of people. They say the medical strategy involves vaccinating all the people a patient may have infected and a second "ring" of contacts around each of those potential sufferers.
