One of my favourite Iso-Collabs - @The Quarantine Men - is working up a cover of Queen's very first single release, Keep Yourself Alive.
I've always loved Queen and particularly Brian May's amazing harmonised guitar parts, not to mention his tones, and the way he attacks the strings.
It's like he's always a micron off a pick harmonic! I love it!
In this week's clip I've walked you through how I approached the recreation of Brian parts, as well as trying to mimic his guitar sounds.
This clip contains excerpts of performances by:
Reversion feat. David Mumford, Martin Tullett and Nick Bomba
Three Oak Road feat. Stephanie and Ben Tunks
XYZ feat. Jason Hopman, Maria Williams and Martin Tullet
Joe Licciardello Drums
Miles Eddy
Indi Eddy
As always, the tabs used herein can be found over at Soundslice.com
All guitar parts for this clip were performed on my beloved Fernandes 'The Function' FST-65. Because it was handy when I started tracking.
Up until last week I was using Garageband as my DAW. I have finally moved over to Logic Pro - which is what I used for this production and the demos here.
