US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power cited during the Security Council meetin on December 11 the latest UN report on Ukraine, which said arms and fighters were still pouring into eastern Ukraine from Russia, with the death toll from 20 months of fighting approaching 9,100. The ambassador cited Russia as the source for the military support for the separatists.
"We are here because even today Moscow continues to arm, train, support, and fight alongside separatists in eastern Ukraine. On Wednesday, the OHCHR confirmed the continued “inflow of ammunition, weaponry and fighters from the Russian Federation into the territories controlled by the armed groups.”
