It has always been Veronica’s heart's desire to have an exhibition in Timisoara.
When she saw the beautifully renovated synagogue on a trip to Timisoara, looking up at the women's gallery, she suddenly remembered sitting there on the High Holidays with her mother, her grandmother and her great-grandmother. And with that memories came this desire to exhibit examples of her art right here. Then Veronica contacted Luciana Friedmann, President of the Jewish Community Timisoara, to talk about this idea.
The works of artist Veronica Taussig, produced from polyurethane, lacquered aluminium and steel, are created under the influence of the Constructivist tradition, but they sometimes include amoeboid, almost organic shapes.
Veronica Taussig was born in 1948 in Timișoara, Romania, and for years has lived and worked in Vienna. Professionally she practised interior design. She was close to art her whole life, interested in it, and collected works of contemporary artists, she made her debut as an artist relatively late, when she was in her 60s. She now devotes every spare moment to her own projects. The exhibition at Sinagoga din Cetate is the artist’s fourteenth show, following shows in Prague, Berlin, Vienna, Łódź, Budapest, Warsow and Saint Petersburg.
