"Lama Zopa Rinpoche emphasizes the importance of changing the self cherishing attitude into the attitude that cherishes others, about the difference it makes living life being kind to each other and cultivating the bodhichita mind. He mentions a quotation from the Bodhicharyavatara, saying that there is no way for oneself to experience harm if one has not previously harmed others. Then Rinpoche guides a meditation on how depending on sentient beings we will be able to achieve enlightenment, especially when they abuse us or become angry to us, and on how we will also be able to free the numberless sentient beings from the ocean of samsaric sufferings in that way. Rinpoche gives many examples to illustrate the incredible benefits of the compassionate attitude and elaborates on “The thirty-seven practices of the bodhisattva” to illustrate this attitude.
