On 20 October 2020, the OSIRIS-REx navigational camera captured these images as the spacecraft dropped to the surface of the asteroid Bennu, angled in on its touchdown site, blasted it with nitrogen, and created a cloud of debris so it could capture material from the asteroid to return to Earth. This all occurred over 300 million kilometers from Earth, and was done autonomously by the spacecraft.
