Science diplomacy has increasingly been adopted by governments around the world as a tool to successfully achieve foreign policy objectives. A branch of public diplomacy, science diplomacy harnesses a country’s soft power from scientific and technological advancements to generate goodwill and cooperation with governments and non-state actors around the world. As one of the world’s leading centers of technology, South Korea certainly has the capacity to successfully incorporate science diplomacy into its foreign policy agenda. However, Seoul has yet to do so.
