In this guitar lesson, Steve Stine shows you 3 ways to get more creative with your guitar chords so you can be more inspired to play, write and practice.

1. The first idea is to take any open chord, and move it around to see what kinds of sounds you can create. Don't let theory or logic get in the way in the beginning stages, instead, allow yourself to listen to the sounds and see what YOU think about them. Some will sound like they "fit", and others will clash (but that's not always a bad thing.

2. Next, you'll add a new note called the "9th" or "2nd" to the chord and explore some of the unique sounds you can get with this chord.

3. Next, you'll take a 2 note idea and move it around, exploring the sounds you can get with that as well.

In the beginning of the video, you'll see Steve mix and match these ideas together, so don't be afraid to explore different chords and shapes at the same time. You'll be amazed at all the licks and riffs you can generate with these easy chords.
