HOMEMADE FAMOUS PIE CRUST
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 Tablespoons chilled vegetable shortening
4-6 Tablespoons ice cold water
In mixing bowl add flour and salt. Cut in three tablespoons of chilled vegetable shortening until mixture has the texture of cornmeal.
Cut in the last three tablespoons of vegetable shortening until mixture has the texture of small peas.
Add one tablespoon, at a time, of ice cold water until mixture forms a dough ball.
Roll out dough on floured surface until it is large enough to fit an eight or nine inch pie pan. Flute edges of pie dough.
Bake pie shell in a preheated 350 degree oven for 18-24 minutes or until golden brown.
Note: Follow directions for a baked or unbaked pie crust for your choice of pie filling.
