WORKPIECE CLAMPING BASICS III
There are two main workpiece clamping devices used in Swiss-type automatic lathe. Main spindle collet, and Guide bush (Figure 1).

One of the most important features of Swiss-type automatic lathe is the use of guide bush (Figure 2). Guide bush ensures quality production by guiding the workpiece. The guide bush is tight enough to support the workpiece and has enough space for the workpiece to slide through the guide bush.

One of the most important features of Swiss-type automatic lathe is the use of guide bush (Figure 2). Guide bush ensures quality production by guiding the workpiece. The guide bush is tight enough to support the workpiece and has enough space for the workpiece to slide through the guide bush.

In some cases, the Swiss-type automatic lathe can be used without the guide bush. This mode is called chucker mode (Figure 3).

Although the Swiss-type lathe is a precision machine even without the guide bush, the precision and capabilities of the Swiss-type automatic lathe increase with the guide bush.
