My name is Delaney Carpenter, and I am a doctor in the Department of Otolaryngology or ear, nose, and throat surgery. I see patients of all ages, any patients from their first days of life to older adulthood, and I see a wide range of complaints within the field of ear, nose, and throat. So this may be hearing loss or swallowing complaints, sleep apnea.
I always had an inclination towards science and math, and I always really liked arts and crafts and working with my hands a lot. So medicine and surgery in particular was a way of me meshing all of those things together. I was always really fascinated by the human body, how it works.
I have a personal exposure to the field of ear, nose, and throat because I was diagnosed with a unilateral hearing loss as a child, and I have experience wearing a hearing aid. One unique procedure that I do is called the Inspire Hypoglossal nerve stimulator. It's a surgical alternative to CPAP for patients with sleep apnea who cannot tolerate a CPAP.
Patients should choose UVA for their care because we have a very high standard of excellence and excellent providers across the board.
