A group of international ambassadors has been given a tour of the Great Barrier Reef ahead of a UNESCO World Heritage Committee decision on whether the natural wonder should be declared as "in danger".
The outcome, which will be handed down next week, could see the reef downgraded from the World Heritage list.
Environmentalists are concerned about the impact of climate change on the Great Barrier Reef, and the role rising water temperatures have played in several mass bleaching events across the reef in recent years.
The high stakes decision is set to severely impact the reef which is home to over 64,000 jobs and generates approximately $6.4 billion in revenue every year.
