Want a break from the hustle and bustle of city life or want to witness nature’s breathtaking view? Well, the town of Sogod is an ideal place for you.
Though unlike the towns of Oslob and Moalboal, Sogod doesn't have attractions that draw thousands of local and foreign tourists, what this town can offer to its visitors is its serenity and relaxing ambiance and of course its natural attractions such as caves and spring.
Sogod is one of the municipalities in northern Cebu. It is a 4th-class municipality in northern Cebu. As of 2020, this quiet, yet beautiful town has a total population of 39,447.
This coastal town is bordered by the towns of Borbon to the west, the town of Tuburan to the east, and Catmon to the south. Sogod is 61 kilometers from Cebu City and takes two and a half hours bus ride depending on vehicular traffic.
Livelihood. Being a coastal town, fishing is one of the sources of income for Sogod residents. Motorcycles-for-hire is also a means of living for male Sogod residents taking passengers within the town proper.
Other residents of Sogod work in other towns and cities in the province and go home to Sogod on weekends. They will go back to their respective workplaces on Sunday afternoon or Monday dawn.
Feast Day. Sogod residents celebrate their feast (fiesta) day every 25th of July in honor of the town’s patron Saint, St. James the Apostle.
Days leading up to the feast day are festivities such as volleyball games, basketball games, and variety shows, and sometimes with invited entertainers from Manila.
