Haleiwa is a small town located on the North Shore in the Waialua District of Oahu, Hawaii. It has been one of the most popular tourist destinations for visitors visiting the northern portion of Oahu with old town preserved buildings from its sugar plantation years and popular amongst surfers for its large waves.

The name of its Hawaiian language, "hale" means "house", and "iwa" means "frigatebird", named after Benjamin Dillingham who opened a hotel in the North Shore area in 1898. The town is home to 30 historic buildings featuring plantation architectural styles and was designated a State Historic, Cultural and Scenic District in 1984.

Today, the area has been a hot spot for tourists looking for other places to explore outside of Waikiki and Honolulu. Some attractions in the area include Matsumoto's Shave Ice, Haleiwa's Food Trucks, Haleiwa Joe's seafood restaurant, Haleiwa Alii Beach, and Hale'iwa Beach Park.
