I heard from Kazuko Yasunobu, the director of Studio Odissi (who also teaches Odissi at the Indian Embassy’s VCC), that "Odissi dance is characterized by a strong, forceful footwork compared to other forms of dance. Because of this, during this performance, the sound from the CD skipped quite a bit, and there were many instances where the dance and the audio didn’t sync properly." She mentioned that "the result wasn’t to her satisfaction, so she didn’t want it shared on social media." However, since the footage was already taken, I asked if there was any way to make it work, and we were able to turn what was supposed to be discarded into a post.
As an outsider, I couldn’t tell what the issue was at all, but it was impressive to see how, despite the major mishaps, she performed with such professionalism. Thank you, Kazuko-san.
