(16 Aug 2013) Two British women arrested at Lima airport last week trying to smuggle in 24 pounds (11 kilos) of cocaine were visited by family members on Friday.
William Reid, father of Scotswoman Melissa Reid, 19, visited his daughter at Peru's National Police Anti-Narcotics office, accompanied by a British journalist.
Reid was swarmed by media as he left the police lockup facilities but made no statement.
Later in the day, the brother of 20-year-old Michaella McCollum Connolly from Northern Ireland also visited the lockup where the girls are being held.
He was accompanied by a lawyer and Sean Walsh, an Irish-American archbishop with the Eastern Catholic Church in Lima.
Reid and McCollum Connolly have not been officially questioned after being arrested last week, due to the lack of a translator.
Authorities in charge of the case have said that the women would be questioned in the next few days.
The pair were among 11 foreigners who were arrested on drug smuggling charges and are being held at the counter-drug police lockup in Lima.
In Peru, investigations take 15 days before a decision is made about whether to file charges.
If charged, the two women would be transferred to the Santa Monica women's prison where foreigners are held.
