(14 Dec 2019) UK shadow chancellor John McDonnell has said he will not be part of the Labour Party's next shadow cabinet.
Speaking in London on Saturday, McDonnell said Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was not responsible for the party's crashing defeat.
McDonnell said Brexit was the "overwhelming issue" and the party - which was "largely supportive" of the UK remaining part of the EU - struggled to represent their leave constituencies.
He added Corbyn had been "demonized by a smear campaign against him" in the media and argued this contributed to the party's demise on election day.
