The broadcast, from the studio in Omdurman in the north-west of the capital, was quickly taken off air and it is unclear what happened next. There have been clashes between the Sudanese military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces following days of rising tensions. The RSF claimed it had gained control of the international airport and the presidential palace after an attack on its military place in south Khartoum.
