As we walked up the start of the steep path, perilously perched on the edge of terrifyingly deep ravines, there was the abandoned evidence from migrants who had attempted to cross the night before.
An empty bag of Huggers ‘little swimmers’ nappies, children’s clothes and a pink bra.
There were documents in Arabic, a train ticket from Genoa and empty cans of sardines. A discarded suitcase, bags, a crash helmet - even a set of keys.
