This video is a reading of part of the "Lily" chapter 15. "Lily" resembled the author Wendi Adelson herself, and the "Josh Stone" character resembled Dan Markel. Adelson worked at Florida State University while her then-husband Markel was a tenured law professor at FSU law school. The book was published in 2011. Wendi Adelson left Dan Markel the following year, and they divorced in 2013, sharing custody of their two sons. Wendi Adelson by all accounts detested Tallahassee and filed a Motion to Relocate so she could move away to south Florida, where her parents and brother Charlie Adelson lived. Judge Hobbs denied her motion with prejudice. On 7/18/2014, Prof. Markel was shot twice in the head by Sigfredo Garcia, and three days later Wendi moved away with the children to south Florida, never speaking with Tallahassee investigators again.

Sigfredo Garcia had 2 children with Katie Magbanua, who was dating Charlie Adelson then. Garcia and Magbanua have both been convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Charlie Adelson will be on trial for his role in the murder for hire in late October 2023. Wendi and Donna Adelson (their mother) have been named by the State as co-conspirators in Markel's murder but have not been charged with any crimes so far.
