Rama Dasgupto aka Suchitra Sen was born on 6 April 1931, in a Bangali family of Bhanga Bari village of Belkuchi Upazila, in Sirajgonj District, Bangladesh. Her father late Korunamoy Dasgupto was a headmaster in a local school in Pabna. Her mother, the late Indira Devi was a homemaker.
where she married Dibanath Sen, son of wealthy industrialist Adinath Sen, in 1947, at the age of 15 years. She had one daughter, Moon Moon Sen, who is a former actress. Moon Moon Sen married to Bharat Dev Varma. Actress Raima Sen and Riya Sen are her Granddaughter.
