The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS-02) was launched on the STS-134 Space Shuttle mission to the International Space Station in July 2013. AMS-02 was designed to evaluate high energy cosmic rays for the identification of dark matter/anti-matter. Within AMS-02, there are two identical cooling systems that each contain two pumps. Each of the four pumps have experienced failures that prevent the AMS-02 experiment from working properly. Principal Scientist, Professor Samuel Ting, the AMS-02 Collaboration and NASA initiated the AMS EVA Repair Project. Beginning in November, 2019, NASA completed four spacewalks completing the cooling system bypass and installation of four new pumps, an accumulator, radiator and CO2 refill vessel.
