On any build there's typically a pretty linear build process. You do this, then this, then this, and so on checking pieces off the list and building the car in a sensible order. Well, at least that's how it's usually planned. Whether or not that actually is how things go is up to discussion.
So today we revisit Derek and his 2008 Subaru Impreza, this isn't a WRX, this isn't a STi this is just the normal non turbo base model 2.5 Subaru with a manual transmission. Nothing super fun at the moment, but it's got some potential ahead for sure! The plans are moving forward on the engine build as we got good news from Mike at M&M Head Service so the cam shafts are now on their way to Delta in Washington state. But, that's all stuff for a future video for right now we need to fix some broken exhaust!
Subaru's are excellent rally cars, anyone who's a Subaru fan knows this. So they ARE built to do off roading. Well at least the race car ones are, these stock passenger cars maybe not quite so much. However Derek went ahead and had some fun in his and in doing so broke some rusty bits of his rusty exhaust. Looking at the quality of the pipes there's absolutely no fixing those so we reached out to our friends at Jegs and got a Cat Back exhaust system ordered from Magnaflow, part #16856 . Interestingly the Magnaflow 16896 is the same for both turbo and non turbo applications, uses the factory hangers, and is a full 2.5 inch mandrel bent exhaust. So this is a bit of a How To and bit of a Review of their product, because Derek broke his stuff!
There will be more coming on this Subaru project over the next several weeks, hope some people are enjoying coming along for this different kind of journey with us!
