Factors coming into the formula of alimony is length of marriage, disparity of income, and disposable income. Gender is not a factor in the formula for alimony. Can a man get alimony? In Michigan, the answer is yes. If you have a marriage of at least 25 to 30 years, you can talk about alimony. Court is likely to consider alimony in a long term marriage than in a short one. This is to maintain a certain quality of life for both spouses.
