Do you want to know how to brake on an adventure bike when you're riding off road? Then you've come to the right place. In this series, called Off-Road Basics, we teamed up with Pat Jackson, Head Coach at the Honda Adventure Centre, to take you through a series of basic trail riding techniques to help you progress your riding.
In this episode, Pat takes ABR Editor James through the correct braking technique to use when riding a Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin in the dirt. If you're new to riding a motorbike off road then it can be all too easy to panic, grab a handful of brake, and end up in a heap on the ground. So, to avoid this happening, Pat explains how much front and rear brake to use, as well as the correct way to apply the m while you're stood up on a bike.
The video was shot at the 2022 Adventure Bike Rider Festival, held in the magnificent grounds of the Ragley Hall Estate in Warwickshire. And, we'll have the world's leading off-road skills schools returning once again in 2023 ready and waiting to teach you to ride off road.
