Russian President Vladimir Putin launched Moscow's new 70-km Big Circle Line on Wednesday via video link.
Per the request by the mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, Putin gave the go-ahead to the new metro line, which is set to overtake Beijing's 57-km Metro Line 10 as the world's longest metro ring line.
Putin said he hopes he can showcase the BCL to the Chinese President Xi Jinping, if and when he visits Moscow, or least to a Chinese delegation.
The new line has 31 stations and took 11 years to complete.
