Drug side effects, known as adverse drug events, range from mild to fatal. They can occur when taking a drug as prescribed or as a result of incorrect dosages, drug interactions or off-label usage. According to some reports adverse drug reactions are responsible for about 2 million U.S. hospitalizations per year reports the Department of Health and Human Services and even occur during about 10 and even 20% of the time during hospitalizations reports Merck Manuals.
