STORYLINE
Funerals took place in Lahore on Thursday for police officers killed in a suicide bombing earlier in the day.
Some 700 mourners, including governors of the Punjab province, paid their respects at a police headquarters in Lahore.
Mourners laid wreaths and prayers were said over the coffins.
The blast, the first since the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, killed 24 people and wounded many more.
Umar Sarooq, a nephew of one of the victims said how he was "very upset that we haven't been able to control these suicide attacks."
Lahore police chief investigator Tasaddaq Hussain said the badly mutilated head of the suicide bomber had been recovered and would be reconstructed for identification purposes.
His other body parts were being examined by forensic experts to extract his DNA.
There was no claim of responsibility for the blast, but the government has blamed previous attacks on al-Qaida and Taliban militants intent on expanding their reach from bases close to the Afghan border.
