(14 Nov 1976) President Anwar Sadat of Egypt has called on the United States to supply his country with arms, saying he considers it an obligation and that he had proved himself to the Americans. The Egyptian leader made the call when addressing a group of thirteen American senators, including Abraham A Ribicoff, who are visiting his country. President Sadat also urged president-elect Jimmy Carter to help promote movement toward an overall Arab-Israeli peace settlement in 1977.
