Maggi Varvara : ‘Beauty Breaks Fear’ features the fashion of the Maggi Varvara brand. The subcontext of the film is centered around women’s empowerment and fashion from the COVID - 19 era. The story starts with two girls separated, each of them in isolation. One of the girls calls the other girl to come over to (metaphorically) explore beauty together by lifting a glass vase from the flower. The rose is in a flower vase shaped like the body of a woman and the flower sticks out from the bottle but it can never be truly seen under the glass vase. This represents how we desire to show the beauty from within, however sometimes we hide ourselves in fear of judgment.
With the two girls now in the room together, they decide to lift up the vase and explore beauty together. One of the girls gets pricked on the finger by the rose, representing the beauty within all that can be seen if chosen to, but is untouchable at the same time. After tasting the blood, they are taken to another world through the flower, representing the exploration of beauty. They are together and free, without anything inhibiting their ability to explore the beauty surrounding them. They navigate beauty confidently together, helping each other through the rough patches and walking together into the world. They eventually find a flower, resembling the original one, lying on the ground so they pick it up. The scene cuts and they travel back to the beginning scene of the flower vase where the glass is eventually put back over the original flower after the two girls’ journey together. This ultimately shows that the beauty in each person may be untouchable and hidden from the world in fear of judgement but that it is possible to still find it within ourselves.
