Life History: Gen. Moses Mun Kuon Liom was born in Wanding Payam of Nasir County in 1946, and he was nurtured in Wanding from his young hood until 1960. Liom has been blessed for 4 women, 15 children, and many grand Kids both live in Africa and Western World. Liom has four wives; Nyakuei Chol has 4 girls, Chol Ruot Garang has 6 children 5 boys and I girl, Nyaruach Miyoang has 4 children, and his younger lady’s name not received yet, she has 1 child.
Military life: late Gen, Liom joined the first movement in 1961, after Addis Ababa accord in 1972, he was observed into Sudan National Army 105 battalion and served in Sudan army force until 1983 with a distinct decencies and highly legacy record remain in his credential that will be remembers for many years to come. Gen, Mun defected from Bor Town in Jonglei State that was led by Kerbino Kuanyin Bol who was commanding force in Bor Town where they rebelled against Khartoum’s regime on May 16, 1983. Liom was wounded in left leg in that fight and captured alive by Sudan Army force in Bor Town and they took him to military hospital in Khartoum and cute off unwounded leg and left him broken leg and sent him to military prison for the purpose of torturing until 1985. Late Liom was released in prison when Any Nya II leader CDR. Gordon Koang Chol left from Bilpam Ethiopia due to disagreement between two leaders Late Dr. John Garang & Samuel Gai Tut. CDR Gordon Koang Chol went to Khartoum and claim for Mosses Mun Kuon’s releasing from prison until he was released by Sudan government. When Mosses Mun was released from prison, he joined SPLM/A under leadership of Dr. John Garang instead to John Any Nya II led by Gordon Koang Chol who claimed his life from prison. Simply, late Mosses made his choice to join SPLM/A side because his real enemy is North Sudanese. He served in SPLA for distinguish respect, courage, and dint of division 104 Battalion.
Honorable General Mosses Mun Kuon Liom was among those who started the Bor mutiny base on the desertification of remedies of Anya nya II movement comprised of Lt. Benson Kuany Latjor, Bol Akur and Line corporal Tap Leah who were threatened to be transferred from Akoba to Northern Soldiers led by Colonel. Abdalla Kol on the 3rd day of March 1975, they took position to resisted their transfer and they decided to fight with those troops to replaced them and they crossed the rivers and established Bilpam military headquarter in Ethiopia. Gen, Liom fought courageously all those years in SPLA until the split of the movement in 1991.
Late General Liom defected from SPLA led by Dr. John Garang and amalgamated with SPLA Nasir faction led by Dr. Riek Machar because he was a man dedicated his lives to freedom of South Sudan, he surely choose to fight for the course not for the so called secular united Sudan that been used as a slogan during the struggled.
During the reunifications of SPLA/M Nasir faction, and SPLA/M Torit factions, late Liom was promoted into commander and his leg was amputated and became a leader of wounded heroes and heroines. And after the signing of comprehensive Peace Agreement in Naivash Kenya, Liom was promoted into rank of major, General and was assigned into command of greater upper Nile war hero and heroines and been station in Ubell.
December 15, 2013 Nuer massacre in Juba, Major Gen. Mosses Mun Kuon Liom was in Ubell and after December 15, he was taken to Malakal Town due to insecurity reason all over the State in Upper Nile. Unfortunately, after the fall of Malakal to the government, late General Moses Mun was slaughtered and killed in his home by government troop loyal to Salva Kiir when they recaptured the City from rebel. This is the end of his lives. Moses has left behind many kids and his grand kids. God will bless him in kingdom rise his soul in peace.
