To coincide with the EITI Board meeting in June 2022, the European Commission and EITI International Secretariat are convening an engaging hybrid event. This event aims to explore the importance of critical minerals for the energy transition and energy security. It will also discuss the extent to which transparency and good governance are essential to addressing supply risks. Finally, it aims to showcase the role the European Union can play in strengthening the responsible supply chain of minerals as implied in the Conflict Minerals Regulation (2017), the new proposal for a Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, the Global Gateway strategy, and new bilateral partnerships between the EU and several African countries.
