Spring is here! This means you can put the winter siding adapter away and pull out the standard adapter. A common question we get is “What is the difference between the winter and standard adapter?”
1. The winter adapter is made out of a different compound (softer, with a lower glass transition temperature - making it extremely durable in the cold. We have not had a single reported broken one yet).
2. The winter adapter is made larger to account for the high shrinkage rate of the materials - this means that it will be too loose in the summer and fall off of the nailer. The material would be too soft in the summer as well.
3. With the standard adapter made with a harder material, if you’re able to get it onto the nose of the nailer in the winter, it would be under too much stress and stray nails will damage the adapter tip.
Always use 1 3/4” roofing nails with our adapter tips as the shorter nails will stray due to the longer flight path of the nail and will not give the desired consistency. Thank you for all of your support.
