Is consulting a glamorous job? I would say out of school it is relatively glamorous compared to many other options. You get to work with very bright people, the brightest in their class, you are expected to constantly learn and develop your skills, you get to work on solving challenging problems because who would pay ridiculous so to say, consulting fees to solve easy problems. You travel a lot. Most consultants get to a point where they hate airports, airplanes, hotel rooms, hotel food. But consulting comes with long hours. Giving up things like evenings, weekends, vacations, and being able to sleep in your own bed. So is it glamorous? Yes, you will get glamorous moments. The rest of the time it’s mostly hard work under tight deadlines. But if you are passionate about problem solving and learning it can be a great career path.
