Today we went to the Schanz Glacier on the other side of Union. We wanted to check out the potential of the blue ice for developing a climate record to compare to Patriot Hills. Unfortunately a combination of factors means the ice is too badly crevassed -- nothing dangerous -- to get a clean record. As a result we didn't take any samples.

It was breathlessly still today. Makes a wonderful change to Patriots!
