POCculture.com interview with Mayumi Yoshida and Amanda Sum, who collaborated to create the music video Different than Before.

Written and directed by Yoshida, the music video stars Olivia Cheng, Tzi Ma and Sum, who also wrote the original song.

Inspired by the wave of anti-Asian hate crimes, Yoshida and Sum developed this music video about an Asian family celebrating at a Chinese restaurant who is faced with a group of racist hecklers.

Yoshida and Sum talked about their inspirations and creative process for the project, working with Ma and Cheng, and the important message of solidarity and community that they hope viewers will take away from the song and music video.
