Crown Cement PLC is one of the leading cement manufacturers and exporters in Bangladesh. It started its journey as a Public Limited Company on 31 December 1994 with a mission of manufacturing world class cement to meet the growing demand for quality cement in the country. The vision was simple – contribute to the nation by creating opportunities in the arena of industrial growth and development of Bangladesh by providing a solid foundation.
The first plant was installed with a capacity of producing 600 ton Portland cement per day. Over the time, demand for Crown branded cement increased day-by-day, and in no time the company gained reputation and acceptability at home and abroad, leading the sponsors to expanded production capacity for five times. Currently, the production capacity at five units of Crown Cement is 11,000 ton per day that will reach 19,000 ton per day after commencement of its sixth unit by the end of 2023.
Crown Cement’s backward and forward integration endeavors have given new dimensions to its growth platform. With this end in view, the associate industrial units such as Crown Polymer Bagging Ltd., Crown Power Generation Ltd., Crown Mariners Ltd., Crown Transportation & Logistics Ltd., Crown Cement Concrete & Building Products Ltd. and Crown Enterprise have been set up and are in operation.
Crown Cement pioneered in cement export in 2003 and paved the way for earning hard-earned foreign currency. It is the largest cement exporter in Bangladesh with around 50% market share of cement exported from Bangladesh. The company achieved National Export Trophy for the fiscal years 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2013-14 for its extraordinary contribution to the country’s economy through foreign currency earnings. It’s the only company that has won the National Export Trophy thrice in the history of cement export of Bangladesh.
The company was listed on the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges in 2011 through Initial Public Offering (IPO) by using the “book-building” method in an effort to make a contribution to the development of the country’s capital market. Its high growth agenda have been highly appreciated by the shareholders and have won the investors’ confidence over the period.
