Though you'll be sore for the first three days, the recovery process isn't markedly painful. There will definitely be bruising and swelling, but both should be gone after two weeks. For the first week, it's especially important to limit the pressure put on the bottom, which means to limit sitting for the first week while blood supply is reestablished to the transferred fat.

Most patients can return to work after the first week of recovery. It should be noted that most patients don't see results until 2 to 3 months after surgery when the body has finished absorbing the grafted fat that didn't survive the process. It's also important to wear compression shorts for 2-4 weeks depending on where the grafting and liposuction were performed.

Hi. It's Dr Dunkley from Envision Cosmetic Surgery. I'm frequently asked what is recovery like after a BBL or Brazilian Butt Lift.

Recovery is not overly painful, though you are definitely sore the first 3 days. Swelling and bruising are pretty much guaranteed with a BBL, most of which is gone in two weeks period of time. Transferred fat needs to reestablish a blood supply to survive. Because of this, we want to limit the pressure on the bottom, or specifically limit sitting for a week. After that you begin to feel better and better each day.

Not all grafted fat survives. The fat that dies is absorbed slowly over a couple of months; meaning your final results may not be visible until 2 to 3 months after surgery. Patients usually return to work within a week. Compression shorts for the bottom are worn for 2 weeks and where liposuction was performed, compression is worn for 4 weeks.

A couple other details: there is a limit to how much fat can be placed at one time. Because of this sometimes a second fat grafting procedure will be needed to achieve your goals. All this information and more is discussed in a consultation. If you're intrigued, come in. Let's meet.
