There are many factors to consider when planning airspace design, with the most important being safety. Other factors include minimising noise for the community, efficiency of operations and unrestricted operations for other airports.

Fiona Lawton from Airservices Australia explains the factors considered for Brisbane's new airspace design, which came into effect when Brisbane's new runway opened in July 2020.
