Prior to the pandemic, passenger travel increases were surpassing flight service gains, which led to rising passenger delay minutes. Airports were not able to accommodate these growing volumes, a contributing factor behind aviation’s “D+” grade in the 2021 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure. As passenger volumes have begun to rise again and reaching pre-pandemic levels, it is imperative for Congress to make necessary investments in our nation’s airports.
