Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa’s recent statements have stirred a dangerous path, raising serious concerns about his teachings and the effect they may have on his followers’ spiritual lives. Claiming that “sleeping around doesn’t affect my anointing” not only contradicts the heart of biblical teachings but also threatens to mislead sincere believers into spiritual bondage through permissive and morally compromising doctrines.
The Word of God is crystal clear on the sanctity required in the life of anyone called to serve as His representative. Hebrews 12:14 says, “Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness—without which no one will see the Lord.” Holiness is not an option; it’s a divine requirement for those who seek to serve and see God. The notion that a prophet can indulge in sexual immorality and still retain his anointing is a gross misinterpretation and a violation of this command. If one disregards God’s standards of holiness, they risk misleading the flock they’re meant to guide, possibly leading them to spiritual captivity rather than freedom.
Scripture repeatedly warns of the dangers of those who present a twisted gospel. In 2 Peter 2:1-2, we read: “But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.” Prophet Makandiwa’s teaching subtly opens doors for immorality, not only in his life but potentially in the lives of those who trust him as a spiritual guide. By suggesting that his anointing is unaffected by sin, he risks leading his followers to believe that purity and obedience are not essential in a believer’s life, an idea that starkly contradicts Jesus’ call for His followers to “deny themselves” (Luke 9:23).
Moreover, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 reminds us that “he who sins sexually sins against his own body.” Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and any teaching that downplays the importance of purity disregards this sacred truth. A genuine anointing demands reverence for God, the purity of heart, and alignment with His will, not an excuse for sin.
Followers of Prophet Makandiwa must remain vigilant and discerning. Not every message spoken under the guise of prophecy aligns with the heart of God. Jesus warned in Matthew 7:15-16 to “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.” True prophets are marked by lives that exemplify godly character, not merely by words. Test every spirit, cling to God’s Word, and avoid teachings that seek to lower the standards of His holiness.
In these critical times, believers must seek truth, discernment, and a personal relationship with God rather than relying on the words of man alone.
