If you have installed custom firmware, you will need to switch back to the original MIUI firmware. Once you are on the stock MIUI, go to "Settings" and select "Device Info" and then "Additional Info". Tap the "Kernel Version" repeatedly to access the CIT menu. Next, tap the three dots at the top right corner of the screen to access additional settings. In the menu, select "Fingerprint Calibration" and start the calibration process.
The calibration process consists of three steps. For the first step, use a white piece of paper. For the second step, place your thumb vertically on the sensor. For the third step, place your thumb horizontally on the sensor. After successful calibration, reboot your phone and test if you can add a new fingerprint.
If the fingerprint enrollment fails or stops midway, recalibrate the fingerprint using this method again. It should work after calibration.
