A major electricity supply failure in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) has led to a power outage all over Mumbai city. The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) which is responsible for supplying power to the city has confirmed the development. Maharashtra power minister Nitin Raut has said maintenance work was being done at the Kalwa Padgha CIS centre, which led to the grid failure. He has also announced an inquiry into what led to the power outage.
BMC has shared some numbers with residents in the city in case of emergencies. Residents of Mumbai can call 022-22694727, 022-226947725 and 022-22704403 in case of any emergency.
