Parks in London will be closed on Sunday ahead of Storm Ciara The UK is facing the most aggressive storm in seven years this weekend, with winds of 80mph and blizzard conditions expected to ravage the country. The Met Office has issued a ‘danger to life warning’ ahead of Storm Ciara, which is expected to cause major problems when it ‘barges through’ tomorrow evening. . The winds will be so fierce that all the Royal Parks in London will be closed on Sunday amid fears it could cause trees to fall down. The parks include London’s most famous green spaces: Bushy Park, The Green Park, Greenwich Park, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Regent’s Park & Primrose Hill, Richmond Park and St James’s Park. Forecasters say Ciara’s impact will be felt across the country, with gusts and rain causing disruption to flights, trains and ferries, as well as damage to buildings. He said: ‘There is already an amber wind warning for SE England on Sunday, and yellow warnings elsewhere for wind and rain, which may get upgraded to amber later. ‘It is quite likely Ciara will be the most intense storm since 2013, and will almost certainly cause some travel disruption and damage to trees and properties. ‘Some coastal flooding is possible too, as the strong winds combine with a spring tide.’ Coastal areas will see winds of up to 80mph (Picture: PA) People are being warned to stay indoors on Sunday (Picture:PA) Storm Ciara is expected to ‘barge her way through’ tomorrow (Picture: Met Office) Gusts of up to 50-60mph are expected this weekend – rising to 80mph along coastal towns. Network Rail and train operators in England issued an alert to passengers, which read: ‘Only travel by train this Sunday if absolutely necessary.’ Fewer trains than normal will run on Sunday amid speed restrictions.
