Sir Jonathan Bate CBE, FBA, FRSL is a British academic, biographer, critic, broadcaster, poet, playwright, novelist and scholar who specialises in Shakespeare, Romanticism and Ecocriticism. He is a Foundation Professor of Environmental Humanities in a joint appointment of the College of Liberal Arts, the School of Sustainability and the Global Futures Laboratory at Arizona State University, as well as a Senior Research Fellow at Worcester College in the University of Oxford, where he holds the title of Professor of English Literature.
Sir Jonathan is adamant that Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford, did not write the works of Shakespeare. In fact he thinks he could could use the life of Elvis Presley to construct what he calls fantasies about anyone other than William Shakespeare (birth name Shakspere) being the author. In this video (which can also be seen on oxfraudfraud.com) I invite Sir Jonathan to practice on the documented life of William Shakspere first, before he takes on Mr. Presley.
