"Deacon St. John" is a video montage which serves as an homage to one of my all-time favorite video-game characters. I know a lot of people would probably be surprised by that. But to me, he's right up there with, among others, John Shepard (Mass Effect), Nathan Drake, (Uncharted) and John Marston (Red Dead Redemption).

In case you didn't know, he's the main protagonist in Days Gone, a 3rd-person action-adventure survival horror game, developed by Bend Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PS4 and Microsoft Windows.

Released in April of 2019 for the PS4 (and later released for Windows in 2021), the game's setting takes place in the state of Oregon, two years after a global pandemic. It's a post-apocalyptic open-world adventure in which the main protagonist, Deacon St. John goes on a quest in search of his wife, whom he becomes separated from during the game's prologue.

As you play through the game, you begin to realize that Deacon is a man of many layers. He's tough, he's a fighter, and he'll defend what he believes is right. But he has a heart...a very big one! And while he searches for his wife, Sara, along the way, he'll help anyone he can to see that justice is done, and in many cases, he'll save their life.

He's a dedicated husband and a true friend to his buddy, Boozer. He treats people (who deserve it) with kindness and respect, and expects that in return.

He's a cool biker dude and he's great with any kind of weapon - despite the fact that in my case at least, he had a 'jackass' controlling him!

I love the game, Days Gone. Like the main character himself, it's one of my all-time favorite open-world games. I even got the platinum trophy. I honestly don't know what some of the negative reviewers were thinking (or smoking!) But that's my opinion.
