I watched a documentary many years ago of surfers who went to Liberia just after the civil war. They surfed some amazing waves and interviewed locals on their take on the war. It was sad and inspiring at the same time. I have always wanted to go to Liberia and surf Robertsport. I finally had the chance to do it where I went to represent the International Surfing Association running surf coaching and judging courses for them. We collaborated with the International Surfing Association, Provide the Slide, Universal Outreach and the Robertsport Surf Club.
We managed to surf in between all the training, meet some amazing people, learn about the history of the country and also helped them run a big surf contest.
