Every year on October 15, World Students' Day is observed, on the birthday of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Dr Kalam was a passionate teacher who identified himself first and foremost in that profession before anything else, due to which the day is observed on his birth anniversary. Because of the former President's fondness for students, numerous educational institutions across the country commemorate his birthday in their own unique style. The United Nations designated October 15 as World Students' Day in 2010.
