This is one of the significant chapters in the Diesel Generator.
Here in this video, we will learn about DG ( Diesel Generator Synchronisation).
DG synchronization:- DG Synchronization is adding an additional generator to the current Generator and synchronizing both the generators to work along.
Synchronization plays vital role in power generation as these are being set and synchronized in a way that these can work according to the load available as the current load cannot be the same at all the time.
In Synchronization, when load increases from the capacity being set another DG starts and starts sharing the load.
Generally, when more than one DG sets been added we called synchronization and we also call as parallel operation of DG.
In Generator synchronisation, basically we can add any no. of DG and synchronize, in that we make a part of them to identify we call 1st Generator as Master DG and the second (or more) called as Slave.
when power gets cut from the main supply, DG gets a sense and starts working, when DG starts, initially all the Generators gets started and shares the utility load equally.
At the second step load being measured and if the load is below 70 % of Master DG rest slave DG gets off and only master DG remains on until the load is below 70% of total utility as the setting for the synchronization is being set to 70% of total load ( Load setting can be changed as per the requirement).
In case the load gets increased from 70%, then the slave Diesel generator starts and after 40 seconds the load is shared by the two DG respectively/equally.
For the Synchronisation, below conditions are mandatory to be verified,
1) Output Voltage of both Generator should be same/equal
2) Frequency of both DG should be same/equal
3) Phase rotation of both DG should be same.
4) Phase angle of both DG should be same.
5) Base KVA of both DG should be same.
And upon the match of the above criteria DG Synchronization can be done.
