• Loren asks; I have been told to take grass feed beef gelatine to help with gut health but wondering how much gelatine can you take per day?
Yes, Gelatin does help with gut health.
Gelatin is basically cooked collagen and comes from the bones, hides and connective tissues of animals. Gelatin makes up almost one-third of all the protein in the human body and not having enough of it affects our joints, our skin, and our guts. It comes as a powder that can be used to make jelly/jello, panna cotta, marshmallows, gummie bears and… other gut-giving goodnesses.
You can purchase it and cook with it but what I recommend to you is to use it as a wholefood in form of homemade bone broth. This will have more therapeutic effect on your gut and it will also be delicious.
You should be having 3 to 5 cups of bone broth with your meal as a starter, or between your meal. It is advisable you add a probiotic culture to it in form of sauerkraut juice. This will also deliver another therapeutic agent; Probiotic bacteria. These foods will help to seal and heal your gut lining. I would keep these foods as a staples in your diet.
You can find the video recipes on how to prepare these foods on my blog dorotatrupp.com and my YouTube channel.
